A quick phone call or email before starting your project can save time, prevent delays, and help avoid additional permit fees.
A Village Land Use Permit is issued by the Village of Bloomington and approved by the Village Board. The permit allows the Village Board to review proposed projects before construction begins.
Land Use Permit applications are submitted to the Village Clerk's Office and are considered at a regular Village Board meeting.
Projects that typically require a Village Land Use Permit include:
A Building Permit is issued by General Engineering Company through the Village's Building Inspector, Josh Copsey.
Building Permits are intended to ensure construction complies with applicable building codes and standards and are submitted directly to the Building Inspector.
Many projects require both a Village Land Use Permit and a Building Permit.
Receiving one permit does not eliminate the requirement to obtain the other.
Beginning work before obtaining all required permits may result in additional fees or enforcement action under Village ordinances.
